Illiterate home !! (Prerequisites missing)Hi all,
I am trying to install VB.Net on windows XP Home Edition. The moment I place the 1st CD, I keep getting the window that says "Visual Studio .NET prerequisites - Setup has detected that some of the system components that are installed on your computer do not match the version required for visual studio.net. You must install a different version of these components." I have NO clue what these components are? Thanks to Microsoft for detecting them but not sharing this valuable info with me! Can someone kindly share this info if you have any idea? What is missing? How do I learn this? Thank you in advance, Rajesh Rapaka. They all contain "dotnet" news:1129648900.987163.267930@o13g2000cwo.googlegroups.com... > Hi all, > I am trying to install VB.Net on windows XP Home Edition. This and all other groups on the MS server that start with "microsoft.public.vb" are for VB Classic (VB versions 1-6) and were in existance long before any .Net products were released. While some of the code looks the same, they are very different products and require a different set of groups. Try one of these: news://microsoft.public.dotnet.general news://microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb fwiw, this page says you need SP2 http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/vs2005/resources/sysreqs/default.aspx -- Ken Halter - MS-MVP-VB - http://www.vbsight.com DLL Hell problems? Try ComGuard - http://www.vbsight.com/ComGuard.htm Please keep all discussions in the groups..

<response type="generic" language="VB.Net"> This newsgroup is for users of Visual Basic version 6.0 and earlier and not the misleadingly named VB.Net or VB 200x. Solutions, and often even the questions, for one platform will be meaningless in the other. When VB.Net was released Microsoft created new newsgroups devoted to the new platform so that neither group of developers need wade through the clutter of unrelated topics. Look for newsgroups with the words "dotnet" or "vsnet" in their name. For the msnews.microsoft.com news server try these: microsoft.public.dotnet.general microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb </response> |
