List:

Apparantly, I inadvertantly tripped over a hidden Critical Need detector
on my VB6-SP5 (Enterprise)

Suddenly, the file->Make projectName.exe. . . option is disabled.

What have I done?  More importantly, how do I UN do it?

Why YES . . the need IS critical.

Thank you

Charles

I haven't been able to track down the cause of these things but.... right
click the menu or any toolbar, select Customize, select Menu Bar, select
Reset. It should be reset back to it's "out of the box" condition.

Same here. It obviously is related to how "VB highjacks the registry". Once
during a lull I attempted to find out if I could trap the exact sequence,
conditions, etc. I guess I expected to gain fame and fortune. <g>

I was able to find a component (the "Visio UML Solution" toolbar) that when
Visio was installed invariably caused other menu options to
disappear/grey-out etc. I piddled for half-a-day, then suddenly VB was no
longer 'fooled' by it. It was like I had trained the IDE to accept it. Could
never get it to mess up menus again. <g>

So without a good diseased rat I was left with nothing to play with.

It has been an annoyance ever since VB5. I guess if it had a simple solution
MS would have fixed it my now. <keeping a straight face>

"One possible cause of this problem is a Registry corruption. "

ROTFL; I guess that depends on how you define "corruption"!

reset the toolbars -- that usually fixes the problem.
