Event Log is full Error

I posted this on the MSDN Express forums but got no response, so in
desparation I am trying here.

This error occurs immediately when, upon beginning a new project in VB 8 Ex
SP1, I select  Tools: connect to database:  an error dialog (red circle x)
opens that states "The event log file is full". The title of the dialog is
Microsoft Visual Basic Express Edition.  No error code or any other info is
given.  The only action possible is selecting an OK button which closes the
dialog, but the connection cannot be made.

I get the error in many different ways, for instance if I try to connect to
a new database table or form I insert in an app I am building, etc.  There
is no indication of any problem in any of the project windows, and the
Solution Explorer does not even show any "event log" (and I certainly have
not added one via code or otherwise.

I can find no **specific** help info on the message, and in fact I do not
even see any "event log" anywhere in all of the app data locations.  The
error occurs no matter how one tries to connect to a running instance of SQL
Server 5 Ex or to any database or anything data related.

I can find no info about this >>particular error message<< in Help or on the
MSDN KB, I don't even know what log it is referring to.  None of the logs I
see in the Administrator CM util log event viewer show anything like that.

Any ideas will be most appreciated.

To all who suggest this is the wrong group for such questions:  I know it is
not the "official" group for the Express versions, but I browed through the
postings and saw several that were about Express versions of VB, which is
why I posted it here.

Like I said, I tried the "official"  MS-specified VB Express forum first
with a post, but nobody even offered a reply (and it has had aboiut 80+
viewers there so far).  I had hoped this forum might have the "real" VB
expertise to give an answer but i guess it will remain a mystery.

And I am a VB 6 programmer from the day it came out, in fact I have been
using VB (and ASM and VC++ and C and Turbo C and VBA and MS
Office/Access/Excel app development and Python and Java and Foxpro and Pront
Page and Unix and Linux and etc.) since the days of DOS QB.  So I am just as
"real" a programmer as any others.

That's the problem with people like McCarthy and Corbert posting their .NET
crap here, it's leading folks like you to believe it's okay.  Which it is
not.  They've successfully injected confusion into Google's index and this
is the fallout.
