I am new to VB .Net but have a solid understanding of it, however there are
two things I am not up to speed on:

1) How to setup security(basic & advanced) on VB .Net Apps
2) How to make apps look & feel professional

Does anyone have any suggestions for books or websites I could read that
specializes in these areas?

Thanks for any help I appreciate any and all responses.

VB.Net has it's own newsgroups; look for ones with "dotnet" in the name.
This group is for Visual Basic 6.0 and earlier.

You can start asking in microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb. This group is
for classic VB6 and below.

Hi Andy,

Best to ask dotnet questions in the dotnet forums such as :

microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb

My apologies everyone didn't realize this was VB6 only thanks for pointing
me in the right direction.

Andy,

In fact has your question not much to do with VB either the one from 4
versions back or the newest versions.

It has to do what you call security and look and feel profesional.

Security for Microsoft is mostly something quiet different from what others
often call security.

Make your question something more general, and you will not be attacked by
those who are only active here to kick people out.
(Despite those who are real active to help something but for those it should
not matter if the question is about Net.

There is given help here by instance about word or OS versions, but as soon
it is Net. The Kicking crowd here becomes active)

Which one from 4 versions back? If you're referring to VB6 then it is NOT a
version of VB.Net, and neither is VB.Net a version of VB6. The VB in the
name VB.Net is merely a Micro$oft marketing device. Micro$oft themselves
realise that VB.Net is something completely different to Classic VB (VB6 and
previous versions), as is evidenced by the fact that Micro$oft have created
a new and different newgsroup for VB.Net on their own news servers. If you
cannot understand that Ligthert then you are as daft as you look! If you
wish to respond to people who post VB.Net questions on the Classic VB group
then simply redirect them to the appropriate group and stop repeatedly
posting your deliberately inflammatory messages on the Classic VB group in
your attempts to destroy it. Your attempts and the attempts of your partner
in crime Bill McCarthy to destroy the Classic VB group are deliberate. I
really am quite amazed that you both profess to be Micro$oft MVPs. If that
is the case then they should sack you both immediately. In fact, if either
of you had any self respect then you would both do the decent thing and fall
on your swords.

Microsoft, if you are reading this then would you kindly have a word with
these two MVPs of yours, Cor Ligthert and Bill McCarthy, who are attempting
between them to destroy the Classic VB group. Thank you.

Newsflash Corbert, being McCarthy's butt boy is nothing to be proud of.
It's a pretty good way to get Hoof In Mouth disease, even with condoms.
