ShellExecute - What is the hwnd for?

Hello!

Can somebody tell me what the Hwnd parameter is good for?
I tried to call the ShellExecute function so that is doesn't have
anything to do with my application.
I use a function to bring my application to the foreground and have it
stay there, but I noticed that whenever I execute ShellExecute and open
for example Notepad and try to close it by code, it hangs somehow and
the dialog that Notepad shows looks strange (with black, rectangular
borders where the dialog's border should be rounded).
Can somebody clear me up on this issue? I think it has to do with the
either the hwnd (I am using 0) or with something different which I
haven't figured out yet what it could be...

Thank you.
Ulf

Maybe you should try restating the question, uh, in the form of a question?
