Help an old timer's failing memory...

I'm in the process of reinstalling everything after a total failure of my
system (my warranty replaced my motherboard, both hard drives and both
optical drives in order to solve the problems). Anyway, I just reinstalled
VB6 and I remember there was something I did to my old system which I can't
remember now. The procedure made VB switch my Vista Aero theme off (as I
recall); however, I don't remember what steps were necessary to implement
that change nor, for that matter, do I remember why it was necessary to do
it.<g> My VB6 **seems** to work, but I do remember the procedure I am unable
to remember was required in order to fix some problem that resulted from
using the Aero theme (although, as I just said, I don't remember what that
problem was). So, can anyone clue me in on whatever it is I can't remember?

I don't have Vista here, but I think if you right-click on the shortcut, go
to Properties, then Compatibility tab, Check Disable Desktop Composition (if
I'm remembering correctly). That should do it.

It can be done with a config or manifest file, too, I believe, but this is
easier.

Oh, and at least one thing this fixes is the flashing/ghosting when dragging
a label (or possibly other) control.

Bingo! That was the reason and the fix. Thanks!
