Awww...disappointed?  Time for your masters, err, MSFT to come up with a new
plan for you to ruin this group some more.  Be sure to tell them that if
they/you try, you'll have one nasty fight on your hands.

I ported my .nuts application to VB6 and its rocks now. I have no plan to
move to .nut and will never move.

Among the results: While 86% are using VB, only 12% are
"maintaining VB code". I guess that means that about 80%
of people who use VB6 get their software perfect the first
time.  :)

I don't understand why anyone bothers to even pay
attention to this kind of thing. It's just nonsense marketing.
And they weren't even giving away prizes. :)

Denial huh ?  I think the key point here is that 95% of Vb6 developers are
using .NET  (or if you twist the figures as much as possible you could
pretend that figure is as low as 80%)
Either way you want to cut it, it's a clear message that folks are moving to
..NET

No, that's your propoganda, as usual.  Not only was the survey tainted, but
developers are not *choosing* to move to .NOT, they are not given a choice.
If there was a real choice, I think those results would be a lot different.
Suggesting that this so called migration is voluntary, then you're as
deluded as your masters, which is no surprise. Bitch.

The way the question was worded was ambiguous to the max, as well.  "What Flamework
is your Company using?"  Does that mean which has passed QC and allowed through WU?
No mention whatsoever on that Q of actually coding against it.

I think we have our "twist the figures as much as possible" champ, already, too.  No
competition there.  Heh...

Isn't it possible that most of the new .NET'ers are newcommers having
nothing else for free? Since Basic is still concidered 'easy' compared to
C**.

If 86% of respondents said they were using VB6, where does "newcommers" come
into it ?

Not that it matters, but they don't say *were* using they say *are* using.
Only 46% belive VB6 runtime is supported by M$, is to me that 54% never used
VB6.

Ulrich,

What program language is ASP.

I can think about VBS. However neither classic ASP or ASP.Net is a program
language

Why does that matter? ASP/Windows server competes
with PHP/Linux-Unix server, from Microsoft's point of view.
Also, like the Windows Script Host and the IE DOM, ASP
is a specific script tool, with its own rules, that is at least
somewhat subject to Microsoft's support decisions.

The survey is an attention-getting ploy by Microsoft.
It's not presented as being any more than that, even by
its authors. So naturally they're graphing Microsoft's
progress in terms of 1) How many people are using MS
tools and 2) Of those, how many are buying the latest MS
offerings.

Given that Microsoft has a long tradition of extreme
parochialism, it shouldn't be surprising that their survey is
only interested in Microsoft products and in when, not if,
the public is buying them. :)

You should better ask the maker of the survey: Microsofts United Kingdom
chief evangelist :-))
