Hello. I wrote a special program for our 29th Anniversary, packaged it and
installed it on my main PC. I wanted my Grandson to run it for my wife cause
she don't know nuttin bout PCs. My Grandson does not have administrator
priviledges. When I signed in as my Grandson I located the program in
Windows Explorer, created a shortcut and placed it on his desktop. BUT when
I double click on it, I get a Windows Installer window and then an "error
1706 No valid source could be found for Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1
Professional. The windows installer cannot continue." I don't understand why
Windows Installer is even running here, I have already installed this
application from the PDW package. The other programs that I have install
this way run just fine from my User Account where they were installed. They
don't trigger the Windows Installer. Why doe's the program shortcut that I
put on my Grandson's desktop trigger the Windows Installer? When I click the
cancel button to get rid of the error message, the application is loaded and
runs just fine. Thanks in advance for any help on this. Jim.

Did you reference Office object in your app? If office 2000 has never been
run under your grandson's account, then you will keep getting that error
message. Log in as your grandson and open any office programme (Word, Excel,
Access)...  Office 2000 will prompt to enter your grandson's profile... Name
and blah blah blah... Fill in the information...  Close the opened Office
programe and run your app again. Don't ask me why Office 2000 does that...
Well that's one of the many "Office And Windows" headaches that do exist..

Thank you JoeO. That did the trick. I logged in as my Grandson and ran
Access, filed in the profile info that it asked for, and Access started for
the first time on my Granson's User Account. I then ran the Anniversary
program by double-clicking the Shortcut that I had previously put on my
Grandson's desktop and it ran just fine this time. Starting an Office 2000
application for the first time on my Grandson's User Account sure did the
trick. Have a nice evening. Jim.

I did not reference Office object in my app intentionally. How do I check my
app for this and correct it? TIA,  Have a nice evening. Jim.
