Dummy's guide to using a resource file

Hi All

I've been told that if I'm using a number of pics and sound files I should
put and use them in a resource file. Is this true?

Do you know of a good, short dummy's guide to implementing and using a
resource file, as the MS ones always seem far too convoluted.
