I have the Oct 2001 edition of MSDN installed on my computer such that
when I click on Help in VB6 it reacts. However, as I'm paging down
through some subject, it often prompts me to insert CD #2 or CD #3. If
I do that, it all works but I'd like to not have to insert CDs all the
time. Is there some way for me to permanently install whatever's on
these CDs to the hard drive?

If you go to the control panel's Add/Remove programs and launch MSDN's
uninstaller, it should give you the option of changing your configuration.
The fact that it supports grabbing info from CDs is nice, but it would drive
me nuts if I had to do it all the time <g>

fwiw, I have at least 2 versions of MSDN fully installed and they coexist
nicely.

Either modify the installation in Control Panel Add / Remove Programs applet
or uninstall and reinstall MSDN. Make sure you read every dialog that the
installer throws up. Somewhere there (I can't remember exactly where,
offhand) is the option to perform a full install which will install
everything and which will then no longer require you to insert the CD.

I've copied the entire CDs to folders on a data
partition and just had to point MSDN to the folder
once. From then on it's automaically gone to
the relevant folder rather than ask for the CD.

Ken, Mike, mayayana -  Thanks for the responses. I thought I had
included *everything* when I installed it but apparently not. I took
mayayana's suggestion and just simply copied everything from CDs 2 & 3
into the existing folder. Now it seems to work ok.

Thanks again.
