Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 6 Setup was not completed successfuI've been trying to upgrade for at least a year now.
I have Vista ultimate now. And still have the same problem. Both on my XP Pro machine and my Vista Machine, I get an error upon exiting vb6. Microsoft suggests installing SP6. When i do, After clicking the EULA, i get the message: Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 6 Setup was not completed successfully. There is no events in the event log nor do i get anythin else. I dont have my vb6 install disk but my copies are legitimate. I still have clients out there using vb6. I am functional but it bugs me that i cant install sp6. Please help Thanx in advance jerry Cicierega "JerryCic" <Jerry***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message Have you tried right clicking the SP6 installer and selecting "Run as news:3115835C-C47E-411B-AAAA-F637D4E117BB@microsoft.com... > . . . If that still doesn't work then you might need to uninstall VB6 completely and reinstall it, right clicking the installer and selecting "Run as administrator". You need to do this "right click" thing even if you are logged on as administrator. As far as your lost disks are concerned have you asked Microsoft to send you copies? I know they won't provide VB6 itself any more, but they might still be willing to provide copies in the case of genuine lost disks? Mike yes I have tried this as well as trying it in safe mode.
I am trying to avoid re-installing vb6. Seems that microsoft should be able to write a service pack that works or at least gives a meaningfull message.
